Freddy (b.1998) is from Leicester, East-Midlands and graduated with a BA in Print and Time-Based Media from Wimbledon College of Arts in 2020 and is currently studying Painting at the Royal College of Art.
Freddy gathers images indiscriminately from various systems of image production and distribution to create works that emphasise atmosphere, intrigue and increasingly surface. Narrative could be alluded to but the work explores the state of mind where something can be experienced and asks is reality something that can be understood by temporarily suspending it?
The process of capturing the ever increasing transience of images and exploring their permanence through painting echos an anxiety in relation to deep time. Instead of a paralysis induced by temporal insignificance; Freddy seeks to capture the temporary and mediate an encounter with something not quite definable but ever-present.
